The importance of guttering
Every house needs guttering... So we thought we would take it upon ourselves to find out what’s the importance of guttering?
Firstly, installing rain gutters is essential. In short terms, it cannot be underestimated how important it is that you have a guttering system. If you don't install one, you're looking at a whole series of problems waiting to happen!
Gutters, however, can get overlooked by homeowners because they are one of those things that sort of function on their own, making it easy to forget that they need to be maintained.
What will happen if you don't install gutters...
If you don't install a rain gutter system you are looking at a lot of potential issues:-
1. Gutter systems that are not looked after well can cause water to run underneath your roof tiles. This can lead to roof damage.
2. Homes without a gutter system will lead to water running down the house causing damage to brickwork.
3. The foundation of the house can become damaged by bad or non-existing guttering. Cracks will start to form if there is a constant flow of large amounts of water.
4. If you don't have gutters in place and you have a basement in the house then this could over time result in flooding.
So as you can see, there are many valid reasons for having a good quality guttering system in place.
On the flip side, gutters aren't usually very expensive. It does depend on the materials used to make the gutters - whether you go for aluminium, copper, or uPVC. Each material has its positives. So it's important to choose which one is best suited for your home.
